Roy's interest in photography started as a teenager while still living at home with his parents where he put together a darkroom in a shed out the back and developed his own colour slides. While still at school he got a job on Saturday mornings with a local camera store and furthered his interest in taking photos and reparing cameras. On leaving school he went to work for the local tv station TNT 9 where he stayed for 11 years and while working there as a live programs director also learnt more about still and movie photography by doing extra shifts along side the professional photographers.
A few more changes of profession came along but at the same time he still had a keen interest in photography and helped out several aspiring models with photos for their portfolio and at the same time learning more about how to get the best out of his cameras and lighting.
In 1993 the hobby turned into a part time business and Glamour Image became the registered business name. 2 years later internet arrived in Tasmania via one of Roy's other business ventures and so a basic photography website was also born. Roy slowly changed and updated his gear to digital and the website went through many changes and additions.
In 2000 Glamour Image became Roy's full time business and it ventured into all aspects of the modelling profession moving into a studio and presentation complex in Pipeworks Road, Launceston. As well as the digital photographic studio and offices there was a full catwalk and makeup area and with the help of some wonderful modelling teachers classes were held teaching students from tiny tots to adults the art of catwalk and photographic modelling and all the aspects that go along with it, like makeup and deportment.
In 2003 Roy moved the business into the city to its present location in Elizabeth Street with a shop front and studio and over a few years changed direction to just being a professional photographic studio and aligning itself with other businesses to provide complete packages for the clients.
Glamour Image prides itself in the fact that it keeps up to date with the latest trends and equipment and has a fully portable mobile studio setup to provide an unparalelled quality in the images it creates for its clients.
